Field notes
Notes from practice. Published when there is something worth saying, not on a schedule.
These are not conclusions. They are the questions that keep surfacing in conversations with leaders — the ones that tend to open something when someone sits with them long enough.
Questions worth sitting with
What conversation are you avoiding — and what might open if you had it?
Where are you carrying responsibility that should be shared?
What would your team say if they could speak freely?
What is the decision beneath the decision you are hesitating to make?
Who on your team has stopped disagreeing with you, and when did that change?
What happens the first time someone brings you bad news early?
Which of your meetings would run differently if you were not in the room?
What are you treating as a performance problem that may be a conditions problem?
If one of these lands
If one of these questions is sitting with you, that’s where a conversation often starts. Not with a brief, and not with a proposal — with the question itself.
