How I work
I do not arrive with pre-built answers based on assumptions.
I begin each engagement with listening — to your context, culture, and people involved. Listening is not preliminary to the work. It is the work, and it shapes everything that follows.
The wider network
While Summit to Shore is led by me as a sole proprietor, the work is not limited to my perspective. When a client’s needs call for additional depth, specialization, or lived experience, I draw on a trusted network of colleagues and collaborators whose experience strengthens the work.
The network gives access to expertise in areas such as organizational development, psychological health and safety, equity and inclusion, facilitation, clinical practice, change leadership, and sector-specific experience. The intention is simple: to bring the right insight to the right moment.
Frameworks I draw on
I draw on frameworks that have earned their credibility:
Amy Edmondson’s research on psychological safety, for understanding the conditions that allow people to speak up, learn, and perform.
Heifetz and Linsky’s adaptive leadership work, for distinguishing technical problems from adaptive challenges.
Frameworks are lenses, not prescriptions. I bring significant experience — including years spent working alongside psychological injury, disability, and return-to-work systems in Canada — and a willingness to follow what is actually present in the room.
Lenses, not prescriptions
How the work takes shape
The same approach carries through the Foundation Engagement and the three Extensions.
The form may change, but the posture remains the same: listen first, name what matters, and move with the system in front of you.
Listen first
I begin with your context — the pressures, the relationships, the history, and the human dynamics shaping the moment you are in. Understanding the real problem, the pattern, and the pressure comes before determining the work required.
Name what matters
I help you see the patterns beneath the surface, clarify the tensions, risks, and choices you need to see, and separate noise from the decisions that genuinely need your attention.
Move with the system
We design the path forward together and I help you act in ways that fit the people, pressures, and conditions actually in front of you. The real change happens in the days between: the decision you make with more clarity, the boundary you hold with more confidence, the conversation you stop putting off.
What changes first is quieter than any number. People raise the difficult thing sooner. A team starts to breathe a little easier.
How an engagement begins
An engagement starts with a discovery call, not a proposal. I use that conversation to understand what is happening in your organization, where you are in your psychological health and safety journey, and whether Summit to Shore is the right fit for this moment. If there is alignment, we co-create a tailored proposal from there. If there is not, I will tell you that too.
